A to Z–Book by Book–Scripture Memorization–2 Chronicles

This Week’s Memory Verse: 2 Chronicles 20:20 ESV
Believe in the LORD your God, and you will be established;
believe his prophets, and you will succeed.”

This Week’s Message:
This week our Memory Verse is short but powerful.  It is the words of King Jehoshaphat when he spoke to the people of Judah and Jerusalem before a big battle.  The people were afraid because their enemies were much greater than they.  However, King Jehoshaphat prayed to the LORD asking Him what they should do and the Spirit of the LORD answered him through one of the prophets in attendance.  The prophet told them that the LORD said:
Not to be afraid or dismayed at the size of their enemy, for the battle was not theirs but it was the LORD’s.
The LORD told them where the enemy would be and when and what they should do.
They were not to be afraid, not to be dismayed and not to fight!
They were to go out, stand firm, hold their position and watch what the LORD would do!
(You can read the whole account in 2Chronicles Chapter 20.)

Now, in order to be successful the King and the people had to BELIEVE!  And then they had to act on that belief.   They had to believe in the LORD God and believe in His prophet and then prove they believed by doing what the prophet said the LORD had told them.  The same holds true for us today. Let’s memorize this verse as a reminder to ourselves of the importance of prayer, belief, and action.

If you would like you can Print the verse out in a card format to post to your refrigerator, bathroom mirror, car visor, or other place that would keep it in your daily vision.
It will help to remind you to memorize it as you go through your day and also could be a great tool in sharing with others who might see it.

This Week’s Memory Verse:  Acts 4:12 ESV
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other *name under heaven given among **men by which we must be saved.
*(If you read Acts 4:10 you will see that the name referred to in this verse is Jesus Christ of Nazareth.)
**(The word “men” is the Greek word anthropoi which refers here to both men and women)

This Week’s Message:
This verse speaks of salvation and how it is received.  It tells us that there is only One Way mankind can be saved.  That way is through the name of  Jesus Christ of Nazareth. This verse is a wonderful verse to memorize and share with un-saved friends or family.

Fear Not Scripture: Judges 6:10 KJV

Judges 6:10This Week’s Memory Verse:
And I said unto you, I am the LORD your God; fear not the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but ye have not obeyed my voice.  Judges 6:10 KJV

This Week’s Message:
Jehovah the existing One, the One True God, the God who brought you through many previous battles, trials and troubles, is speaking.
He is reminding the people of who He is. He is reminding them that He once before helped them conquer the Amorites.
He is reminding them to not fear those enemies and little gods, because He, their God is with them and for them.
He is their strength, protection and provision in the present day as He was in the past days. Yet….the people do not listen, nor obey His voice.

Is the LORD speaking to you today? Is He telling you to “fear not” ? If so, listen to His voice, believe Him and obey whatever He is telling you to do.

Memorize this verse as a reminder to “fear not” for your God is always with you.

Blessings to you as you memorize His word.

Fear Not Scripture: Joshua 10:25

Joshua 10:25This Week’s Scripture:
And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage:
Joshua 10:25 KJV

This Week’s Message:
Here we see Joshua telling the people of Israel, once again, to “Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage”

Joshua and his people of war and mighty men of valour, had previously fought and won two great battles, one of which was Jericho. because the LORD God had given victory.
Now, Joshua and his troops had defeated five more cities and their Kings, because the LORD had told Joshua He was giving them into his hand to conquer.
The LORD even listened to Joshua and made the sun and moon stand still for about a whole day. ( Read about it in Joshua 10:12 thru 10:14 )

So, Joshua again is telling the people of Israel to “Fear not” for the LORD would continue giving them victory over their enemies, as He had done, if they would remain loyal to Him and honor and obey Him.

And so shall the LORD do for us. In Christ we have the victory over sin and death and God will continue to protect, provide and give us victory over any enemy that might try to come against us, if we trust Him and obey Him daily.

Memorize this verse and “Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage” for the LORD is with you.

Fear Not Scripture: Joshua 8:1

No Fear--Joshua8-1And the LORD said unto Joshua, Fear not, neither be thou dismayed:…Joshua 8:1 KJV

Once again the LORD is saying “Fear not”. First, He was telling Moses to tell the people of Israel, then He was telling Moses to tell Joshua, and now He is telling Joshua Himself.

Joshua is now in charge, Moses is gone and Joshua is the new leader of Israel. He led the people across the Jordan River. He led them to Jericho where God caused the walls to fall down and the Israelites o conquered it. However, now, Joshua is troubled and greatly upset. He is in fear and is in dismay because his army has lost a battle, one which he thought they should have won and he is questioning God as to why. God tells him it is because some of the Israelites have been disobedient. They have sinned against God by taking things that God had forbid them to take. Joshua did not know this, but God knew, and God had not been with them when they went into battle because of it—so they lost.

Now, God is telling Joshua to find the ones who stole the goods and punish them and destroy the forbidden goods. Then, God will once again be with Israel and Joshua will lead them into victory against the enemies.

There is a lesson to learn here. It is obedience. God loves us but he requires obedience. As a just Father he will discipline those who disobey Him. Just as our parents love us, they also expect us to be obedient to them, otherwise we have to face consequences. God will never forsake His children, but He will discipline them for their own good, just as our parents would do.

Let’s think upon this and be obedient out of love and reverencere to God. For He is with us and He says “Fear Not” to us as well. He will lead us to victory if we listen to Him and do what He says.

Memorize this verse as a reminder to “Fear Not” and neither be dismayed.

Blessings to you daily as you memorize His word.

Fear Not Scripture: Deuteronomy 31:8

Deuteronomy 31:8This Week’s Scripture:  And the LORD, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed. Deuteronomy 31:8 KJV

This Week’s Message:
This week’s verse is very similar to last week’s.
Last week Moses was speaking to all of Israel before they were to cross the Jordan River.
Here, in this verse, Moses is speaking to Joshua, who he has appointed to be the new leader of Israel. Joshua will be the one to lead the people across the River.

Joshua has big shoes to fill as he is replacing Moses as leader. Joshua at this point is probably getting a bit fearful, perhaps doubting his ability, and Moses sensing this, encourages him.
Moses personally calls Joshua out and reminds him in front of all Israel that he is to “Fear Not” for the LORD (Jehovah=the Supreme God) will be going before him.

In essence Moses is saying” “Don’t worry or be afraid Joshua. You can do this because the LORD is going before you into that River. The LORD (Jehovah) will be with you every step of the way.
The LORD (the Supreme God) is not going to fail you, nor forsake you. Don’t let fear overtake you. Don’t doubt. Just trust the LORD and go forth!”

Believers, are we not all leaders in some way? Are we not supposed to lead others to the LORD? Are we not supposed to encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ?
Think about it. Memorize this verse and use it to encourage yourself and to perhaps encourage other leaders that you know.

Yes, the LORD is always with us. We need not fear new horizons, for He will go before us to show us the way. Let’s not fear, nor doubt. We can trust Him.

Fear Not Scripture: Deuteronomy 31:6

ThisDueteronomy 31:6 Week’s Scripture:
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.  Deuteronomy 31:6 KJV

This Week’s Message:

This week’s verse is so uplifting and encouraging!
Moses is speaking to Israel just before they are to cross the Jordan River.
At this time they are feeling fearful because they are about to cross a river, go into a new land where they might face hardships, challenges and enemies, plus their wonderful leader, Moses, who has been leading them for many years, will not be going with them for God has chosen Joshua to be their leader.
They are facing a lot of changes and unknown circumstances.

Moses was telling the people:

  • Strengthen yourselves in mind, body and spirit so that you will prevail against all odds
  • Be brave and bold
  • Do not dread, tremble or resist
  • Do not stand in awe of the enemy

Why was Moses telling them this? He was reminding them of one important thing that they needed to never forget!
That the LORD=Jehovah = the existing One, the Supreme God, the One True God, Elohiym, is your God.
This LORD God goes with you, He walks with you. As you depart He comes alongside you. He proceeds with you.
As you move, He moves. He will not go away from you. He will not abandon you. He will not leave you alone.
So don’t be faint or feeble. Don’t become dishearted or worry or doubt.
He will hold you up. He will not fail and therefore, you will not fail.
As long as you walk with Him you will be safe and you will succeed!

What a great message for us today! Believers, this same LORD God is also our God. He has not changed. As He did for Israel He will do for us.
Memorize this verse and claim it for yourself! Do not fear nor be afraid as He leads and you walk with Him daily.

Fear Not Scripture: Deuteronomy 20:3

Deuteronomy 20:3This Week’s Scripture:
…let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them; Deuteronomy 20:3 KJV

This Week’s Message:
As the Israelites are preparing to cross the Jordan into the new land that God, Jehovah, the One True God, has promised to give them, Moses is telling them, once again, not to fear their enemies for God is with them.
He is telling them not to let fear overtake them, not to be afraid, not to faint, or tremble or be terrified. He is reminding them that God is going before them to prepare the way and to fight for them.

Believers, we can learn from this. In Christ, we are God’s people and we should be applying this verse to our current situations in life. Whatever we are facing, wherever we are going, we should remember that God is with us. He is going before us to prepare the way. We should not let fear of the unknown overtake us. We should not let our hearts faint. We should not tremble, nor be terrified of our enemies, or our challenges. We should fear not and walk forward in faith, trusting in the Lord God to protect us and guide us always.

Blessings to you daily as you “Fear Not” !

Fear Not Scripture: Deuteronomy 1:21

Deuteronomy 1:21This Week’s Scripture:
Behold, the LORD thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the LORD God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged. Deuteronomy 1:21 KJV

This Week’s Message:
Moses was speaking to the Israelites, refreshing their memories of when he had told them what the LORD God had said for them to do.
He was reminding them that the LORD God had told them to go up and possess the land because He, the LORD God, had set it up for them to be able to take it.
Moses was saying “Remember, I told you that you should fear not and neither be discouraged, yet you did not listen and you did not obey. You rebelled and did not go because you were afraid!”

What is the LORD God telling you to do today? What is He setting before you? Is He telling you to go forth and fear not? Is He saying do not be discouraged ?
If so, do not be like the Israelites. Listen to Him, trust Him and obey Him.
Go forth believing in Him and do not fear.

Fear Not Scripture: Exodus 20:20

Exodus 20:20 Fear NotThis Week’s Scripture:
And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not. Exodus 20:20 KJV

This Week’s Message:
In verses previous to this verse we see that God (Elohiym–the One True God–Jehovah) is speaking out His Ten Commandments to His people.
After He speaks, the people see and hear signs of His presence.
Exodus 20:18-19 says: And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar
And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.

The people were afraid. They had fear–but not the kind of fear that they should have had. They had earthly, fleshly fear.  They needed to have a godly fear. A fear of God which was reverent fear.
A healthy respect for God, reverencing Him for who He was. Showing honor to Him for His great power and authority.

Moses corrected them. He told them to “Fear Not” which meant do not be afraid in your flesh that God is come to harm you, but realize that He is speaking these things to you for your own good.
He wants to test you in these things so you will not sin, for He loves you and wants the best for you.

Let’s learn from this verse today. Let’s memorize this verse as a reminder to ourselves that we should have a healthy fear of God, which is a reverence for Him, respect for Him, awe for Him.
We should regard His authority and honor who He is. We should remind ourselves that He loves us and wants the best for us, therefore whatever He commands us to do is for our good.

Let’s realize how to “Fear Not” and do it daily.

Fear Not Scripture–Genesis 46:3

Genesis 46:3This Week’s Memory Verse:
And he said, I am God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation: Genesis 46:3 KJV

This Week’s Message:
I am El (Mighty God) the God (Elohiym–the One True God, Jehovah) fear not.

In this verse God is telling Jacob three things:

  1. that he should not fear because He, God, is the same God that Jacob’s father, Isaac knew, loved, trusted and followed. God was in a sense telling Jacob to recall how He, God, had always been there for Jacob and his father Isaac in the past and that he would always be there now for Jacob.
  2. God was telling Jacob where to go in the present time–He was giving Jacob direction for his life.
  3. God was telling Jacob what He was going to do for him in the future. God was promising Jacob the same thing He had promised his father, Isaac.

God was showing Jacob He was there for him in the present just as He had been in the past and would be in the future. Jacob should not fear, but just trust God.

I feel this verse has a lot to teach us today. I feel God could also be speaking this to us believers as well. He is saying “Trust Me” I am Mighty God, the One True God, Jehovah, have no fear, I will direct your paths, I will show you where to go. I have plans for you for the future and they are good plans.

Let’s memorize this verse and repeat it to ourselves daily as a reminder that God is with us, just as He was with Jacob.

Blessings to you daily,

Fear Not Scripture–Genesis 26:24

Genesis 26:24This Week’s Scripture:
And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham’s sake. Genesis 26:24 KJV

This Week’s Message:
In this verse we see the LORD having a conversation with Isaac, the son of Abraham.

The LORD (Jehovah=One True God)–I AM–The God of Abraham–Says:
“Fear Not”

Why?–Because of His Covenant Promise He says: “I am with thee, I will bless thee, I will multiply thy seed”
The LORD is telling Isaac that He is his provider and protector in the present and in the future.
He is guaranteeing Isaac that He remembers His Covenant that He made with Abraham and that He intends to keep His promise.

Well, believers, in Christ we can claim this verse for ourselves because Galatians 3:29 says:

“And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.”

Therefore, let’s memorize this verse and claim it’s goodness.
For in Christ, the LORD is our God, He is with us, He will bless us, and He will multiply our seed as well.

Give Him thanks and praise, for who He is! And give thanks and praise for who we are in Christ!

Fear Not Scripture: Genesis 21:17

Genesis 21:17This Week’s Scripture:
“What ails you, Hagar?  Fear not, for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is.” Genesis 21:17 NKJV

This Week’s Message:
The first part of this verse says: And God heard the voice of the lad. Then the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven,…

This verse shows me:
First of all—God, Elohiym, the Supreme God, the Creator, heard
(perceived, regarded, listened, understood) the voice of Hagar’s child.

Second–That God didn’t just hear, He responded. He sent His angel to communicate with Hagar, the lad’s mother.

Third–It shows God’s concern, his love and compassion. He wants to let Hagar know that He is aware of what is going on in her life and in the life of her child, for the verse says: “God has heard the voice of the lad where he is.”
God wanted to let Hagar know that He knew exactly where she and her son were and that she should not be afraid for God was going to help.

Believers, isn’t this a wonderful verse for us to memorize and reflect upon? Don’t you think that each one of us could substitute our name in place of Hagar’s name in this verse?
Don’t you agree that God would also tell us that He hears our cries just as He heard the lad’s cries? And that He knows just where we are and that we should not be afraid for He will help us? For,  we are His children.

Plus, God not only hears, He sees also.  In Genesis 16:13 Hagar called Him “El-Roi–The God Who Sees Me.”

In Malachi 3:6 God says: “For I am the LORD, I change not;”—since God doesn’t change, should we not expect that He would also hear and see us today?

“Fear Not”—Our God–Elohiym says.  Are we hearing Him?

Blessings to you as you memorize His word and walk and talk with Him daily.

No Fear Scripture–Genesis 15:1

No Fear In our uncertain world we often see or hear things that can cause us to become fearful or anxious.
Yet, all through scripture we see God telling us not to fear or not to be afraid.
Let’s memorize some of those scriptures so that we can call them to mind in our time of need, and encourage ourselves that God is always near and we have no need to fear.

This Week’s Scripture:
Genesis 15:1“Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.”  Genesis 15:1 KJV

This Week’s Message:
God was telling Abram not to be afraid because He, God, was Abram’s shield and exceeding great reward. A shield protects. An exceeding great reward encourages and uplifts.
God was telling Abram to have no fear because He, God, was everything Abram needed.

I believe God is saying the same to all of us who believe.
Many times scripture says God is our shield and He that will reward those who trust in Him.

Let’s memorize this verse as a reminder to ourselves to “Fear Not”, for in Christ, God is our shield and heaven is our exceeding great reward.

Nuggets of Truth–Scripture Memory Verse–Z

Gold Letter ZThis Week’s Memory Verse:
Do not let your heart envy sinners, But be zealous for the fear of the LORD all the day;
Proverbs 23:17 NKJV

This Week’s Message:
“Zealous” is not a word we hear very much nowadays, it means: ardently devoted, eager for something, actively or intensely diligent, enthusiastic or passionate about something.
and “fear of the LORD” means: a reverential awe for the One True God=Jehovah. It means to have respect for Him, not to be afraid of Him, but to reverence Him for who He is.

So, to be zealous for the fear of the LORD all the day would mean that we believers, should be ardently devoted to the LORD.
We should be in reverential awe over Him daily.

We should be actively pursuing His word, His will, His way. Our passion should be in and on the LORD, not on anything or anyone else.

Let’s memorize this verse as a daily reminder to ourselves.

Note:
This is the last memory verse in this “Nuggets of Truth” series.

Gold Letter WThis Week’s Memory Verse:
Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!
Psalm 27:14 NKJV

This Week’s Message:
Wait doesn’t just mean to languish or sit dejectedly, it means to expect, place all your hope in, look for the LORD–the One True God-Jehovah! It means to prevail, stand strong, press on.
It means to gather together all your faith and encourage yourself in His word. The root word for wait is actually to bind together or twist, quite like the stands of a rope are put together.
Therefore, we could look at our waiting time as one where we bind all our beliefs in God and His word together into a strong rope which we then hang onto and look for Him to come to us.
When we do that, He will come, He will strengthen us, He will build us up even more. He will confirm His word to be true to our hearts, our inner man, He will make us even stronger and bring us His assurance. Let’s wait on Him in this way and see what He does for us!

This Week’s Message:
Verily means something that is asserted or confirmed. It is saying whatever is spoken is a firm truth. When Jesus said “Verily, Verily” He was using a double assertion, like “Amen, Amen”.
He was doubly confirming that what He was saying was surely true.

Gold Letter SThis Week’s Memory Verse:
“Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. ” –Jesus [Matthew 6:33 NKJV]

This Week’s Message:
In the verses previous to this verse Jesus was talking about worrying. He was telling the people not to worry about material things, like clothes and food.
He was telling them to look at the nature around them and see how God provided for the birds and the flowers. He was saying we should first seek God’s way and will for our lives
and if we do, then God will take care of us, just as He does with the birds and flowers, yet even more so because we are even more precious to Him.

When I think of God’s kingdom and righteousness, I immediately think of Christ, for Jesus is the righteousness of God and He is the Messiah who is coming back to rule and reign someday soon.

So believers, let’s memorize this verse to remind ourselves daily to “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” and then we shall not need to worry about anything.

Nuggets of Truth–Scripture Memory Verse–Q

Gold Letter QThis Week’s Memory Verse:
Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; so shall I keep the testimony of thy mouth. Psalm 119:88 KJV

This Week’s Message:
‘Quicken me” I have always loved the word “quicken”. It isn’t used today, I wish it was for, to me, it has a certain urgency to it, kind of a desparate plea.
Quicken means: revive, restore, give life. In this verse, David is asking the LORD God to revive his strength, restore his faith, give him grace to obey and proceed in God’s word.
David so wanted to live according to God’s way and will that he often asked God to show him loving-kindness to help him keep on the right path. David knew without the daily help of God, he couldn’t make it on his own.

Jesus said in John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.”

And so, we should pray daily, as David did, that God will quicken us, so that we can abide in Jesus and bear much fruit.

Let’s memorize this verse and pray it daily.

Nuggets of Truth–Scripture Memory Verse–P

Gold Letter PThis Week’s Memory Verse:
Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
Psalm 16:1 KJV

This Week’s Message:
This verse is a Michtam of David. Only two other Psalms are described as such. I believe it is a special poem that David wrote to encourage himself during a time of great need.
The definition of Michtam is not totally known but it is believed by some to mean “golden” or a very bold, special request at a time of great need or during a time of trouble.

“Preserve me” would mean protect me, keep me from harm, watch over me, guard me, and more.
David was speaking to “EL” Jehovah, the One True God. David was telling God that he trusted in Him, that he believed God was near and that God would indeed help him.

I think that this would be a special short verse for all of us believers to memorize as we could recall it to memory in our times of need.

Blessings to you as you memorize His word and walk in it with Him daily.

Gold Letter OThis Week’s Memory Verse:
Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.  Psalm 119:133 KJV

This Week’s Message:
Order means to set up or establish, it would mean that you are asking God to set your feet firmly to walk in His word.
You are also asking Him to not let any trouble or wickedness to have power over you. This verse would be a good prayer to pray daily upon waking.

  • Memorize this verse.
  • Speak it aloud to the Lord in prayer every morning.
  • Keep it in your heart daily.

Gold Letter MThis Week’s Memory Verse
My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue,
but in deed and in truth. 1 John 3:18 NKJV

This Week’s Message:
This week’s verse admonishes us. We, believers, who are God’s children, should be showing our selves to be His children through our actions, not just through our words.
As we speak of being His children, as we give our testimonies and declare Him as our Father, we should also be showing that through our actions, our deeds to others.

This week as we memorize this verse, let us take it to heart and examine ourselves to see how we might love in all ways as God would want us to do.

Blessings to you as you memorize and live out His word daily.

Gold Letter LThis Week’s Memory Verse
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my strength and my Redeemer.  Psalm 19:14 NKJV

This Week’s Message:

I often pray this verse at the beginning of my day, so that I will be aware of the words I speak daily and the thoughts I think also.
I want my speech to be acceptable to the LORD. I want the thoughts of my heart to bring glory to the LORD, my Redeemer.

You might want to do this also. Therefore, this verse is an excellent verse to memorize and to also pray daily.

Blessings to you!

Gold Letter KThis Week’s Memory Verse
Keep your heart with all diligence,
For out of it spring the issues of life. Proverbs 4:23 NKJV

This Week’s Message:
In this week’s verse we have a message to us from our Father God. He is speaking here to us, His children.
He is telling us to guard, or watch over, our inner man, our mind, will, heart, understanding.
We need to confine our thoughts, guard our hearts, keep watch over our will.
Why? Because our life reflects what we think. What we believe should be exhibited in our life.
If we keep our focus on God and His word, not on the world, our flesh or the temptations of satan, we will have a good life.

Realize that this is a call to action.  Memorize this verse as a warning to yourself—to “Keep your heart with all diligence” daily.

Blessings to you as you read, memorize and live out His word to you.
