Hope is in You.
As you light your first candle of Advent take time to ponder this verse:
But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
1 Peter 3:15.
What if someone were to ask you today what the reason was for the hope that is in you? What would you say?
Do you have hope in you? If you are a believer, you should have, and you should be able to tell someone why.
These are all things that we believers need to ponder, for we always need to be ready to give an answer to anyone who might ask us about our hope and faith, and our answer should be given humbly and reverently.
Peter says we should “sanctify the Lord God in our hearts.” What does that mean to you? Sanctify to me means to set aside as holy, as special.
Jesus said: “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart,…”, Matthew 22:37, to me that is what sanctify means.
As the Advent candle burns bright and chases the darkness away, ponder upon the Hope that is in you, and how you would share that hope with others.
