GREAT JOY.
As you light your first, second, and third candles of Advent, take time to ponder this verse:
And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: Luke 24:52.
After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples, and opened their minds to the scriptures, showing them how His death and resurrection fulfilled what had been written in the Old Testament about the coming Messiah. He said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.” Luke 24:44. Then, He led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven. Luke 24:50 and 51. What a time of rejoicing that must have been for the disciples. It surely was a time for great joy.
As the Advent candles of JOY, PEACE, and HOPE, burn bright and chase the darkness away, ponder upon these verses, and worship Jesus with great joy, just as His disciples did, for He is our Savior and soon coming King.
