Walk in God\u2019s Statutes.
\nLet your heart therefore be wholly true to the LORD our God, walking in his statutes and keeping his commandments, as at this day.\u00a0<\/em> 1 Kings 8:61.<\/p>\n

What does it mean to walk in God\u2019s Statutes? \u00a0In the Old Testament, God gave the people His divine laws and commandments to help them live according to His way and will. They were the guidelines that helped govern the people\u2019s behavior and keep their hearts wholly true to Him. Those statutes of God were expressions of His will and character. They provided guidance for righteous living and gave insight on how to gain a deeper relationship with Him. They were not merely legalistic rules, but they were intended to shape the moral and spiritual life of His people.<\/p>\n

But none of these statutes and Old Testament law is binding on us Christians today. When Jesus died on the cross, He\u00a0put an end to all the Old Testament law. See: (Romans 10:4, Galatians 3:23-25, Ephesians 2:15.)
\nIn the New Testament, Jesus Christ fulfills the Law and the Prophets and provides a model for walking in God’s ways. In Matthew 5:17, Jesus states, “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”<\/em> Jesus’ life and teachings exemplify perfect obedience to God’s Law, and He calls His followers to do likewise.<\/p>\n

So, in place of the Old Testament law, (or statutes) Christians are under the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2).
\nThis law is expressed in John 13:34, where Jesus says, \u201cA new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another\u201d.<\/em> The law of Christ is not a set of legalistic rules but a principle of love that governs the life of a believer.<\/p>\n

So, in summary, a believer in Christ can apply this verse to their life to mean their hearts should be wholly true to the Lord our God, and they should walk in the law of Christ, keeping His commandments as He stated in Matthew 22:37-39: Jesus declared, \u201c\u2018Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: \u2018Love your neighbor as yourself.<\/em><\/p>\n
