January 19—Walk as Children of the Light—Ephesians 5:8

Walk as Children of the Light.
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. Ephesians 5:8.

In pondering the meaning of this verse “walk as children of light” I of course could see how much better my life would be walking in the light of the Lord rather than in the darkness of sin, knowing that God was my Father who would be leading and guiding me daily, and that, of course, made my heart rejoice.
However, another thought came to mind…” children of the light” caused me to think about how children walk, and my great granddaughter immediately came to mind. I reflected on how she walks when she is with me and her grandma. She holds our hands, but she doesn’t just walk along, she hops, or twists, or turns, or sings, or laughs. She is enjoying life, she hasn’t a care in the world, and she knows she is safe when walking with us because we are holding her hand and guiding her on where to go and keeping her from harm.

So, I think that is how we believers in Christ should be walking as children of the light. We should be walking joyfully and enjoying life, holding onto the Lord’s hand, knowing He is keeping us safe and guiding us on the right paths. The world around us may be falling apart, our circumstances might not be the best, but as children of the Lord we should walking confidently because our Father God is holding our hand and smiling down at us.

So, enjoy your day walking in the light of the Lord as a child of light today!
