AUGUST 25–SUBMIT TO ONE ANOTHER

Posted on August 25, 2023September 1, 2023 by SGLY Devotionals

A “One Anothering” Scripture and Thought
submitting to one another in the fear of God. Ephesians 5:21

Submit means:

  • to yield oneself to the power or authority of another
  • to allow oneself to be subjected to some kind of treatment
  • to defer to another’s judgment, opinion, decision, etc

To submit to one another is often hard to do, but Paul says we are to do it out of reverence to God.

ONE-ANOTHERING IN ACTION:

Perhaps today you will need to yield yourself to the authority of one of your brothers or sisters in Christ, do it willingly out of reverence to God.

You might need to defer to the judgement, opinion or decision of a teacher in the church, do so in obedience to God.

Occasionally, it might be necessary to allow oneself to be subjected to some kind of counseling for treatment of an ongoing problem, do so with a “one anothering” attitude for your good and the good of other believers.

Pray and ask God to give you the ability, strength and willingness to submit in whatever way He has called you to do.

Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” 1 Peter 5:5
