MOUTH MEDICINE:
In the multitude of words sin is not lacking but he who restrains his lips is wise. Proverbs 10:19 [NKJV]
TONGUE TALK:
The thought behind this proverb is using wisdom in our speech. Because the tongue is so hard to control,
(James 3:5-8) any increase in its use is likely to increase the presence of sin.
Therefore, by restraining our lips we can prevent our tongue from speaking things it should not.
HEART HELP:
A Psalm of David. I said,
“I will guard my ways, Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me.” Psalm 39:1 [NKJV]
MY PRAYER FOR TODAY:
Dear Lord, today, help me to remember to restrain my lips so I will only speak words that are necessary.
Help me to check my speech before I speak so I may I hold back any unkind words.
I pray I can use wisdom and limit my conversation to only what is needed for edification or encouragement. Thank You Lord. Amen.
