Walk-in-the-Light-of-the-Lord--Isaiah-2.5

January 17—Walk in the Light of the Lord—Isaiah 2:5

Walk in the Light of the Lord.
O house of Jacob, come and let us walk In the light of the LORD.  Isaiah 2:5.

In this verse we see God speaking to the descendants of Jacob, who were the 12 tribes of Israel.  God is calling them back to walk in His light for many of them had strayed from Him and became involved in idol worship and were walking in disobedience and darkness.  He was calling them to repent and return to Him and to walk in unity as they all once did in the beginning before they got involved with false teachers and evil nations that corrupted their faith and belief.

Today, this verse is also speaking to us believers in Christ, to remind us to walk in the light of the Lord and to not let ourselves get led astray by false teachers, idol worship or to let any form of evil enter into our thoughts.  We need to stay focused on the truth of God’s word and keep our eyes off the world and all its distractions.  We need to walk in unity with those who are true believers in Christ, so when temptations come we will be able to have the love and support of a like community of believers to uplift us and pray for us.

God is calling us to walk in His light daily.  In His light darkness will be dispelled and we will be protected, loved, cared for, and provided for. What better place could we choose to walk?

God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.  1 John 1:5.
