June 2–Heart for the Lord–Day 2–BROKEN HEART
“The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart” Psalm 34:18 NKJV
Today’s Thought:
Our Prayer of the Heart for the Lord today is for a Broken Heart.
Why would we pray for a broken heart? Who wants broken?
Our concept of a broken heart is not something we would desire, and why would the Lord be near to a broken heart?
Well, in this case, the Lord is saying He wants you to have a heart that is crushed with sorrow for your sins; a heart that is humble and thoroughly penitent.
The Lord is close to those who are of a broken heart and saves such as are crushed with sorrow for sin and are humbly and thoroughly penitent. Psalm 34:18 AMPC
This humble, repentant heart that comes close to Him, and seeks His healing touch is one that He will mend with His saving grace and mercy.
It is this kind of broken heart that can be mended and made whole again because it is seeking the Lord’s will and not its own will. Jesus said He came to heal the brokenhearted.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed;” (Jesus–Luke 4:18 NKJV)
Prayer of the Heart to the Lord:
Dear Lord, today I ask that You create in me a Broken Heart (one that is crushed with sorrow for sin, humble and thoroughly penitent.) for then You will be near to me, and I can give my Broken Heart to You and receive true healing and wholeness as You give me a new heart and put a new spirit within me. Thank You Jesus for coming to heal the Broken Hearted.
