Today’s Scripture:
“For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.” –Jesus Matthew 16:27
Today’s Thought:
The Bible has a lot to say about rewards. Jesus spoke frequently about rewards.
The word rewards is defined in scripture as wages or dues paid for work. Rewards have nothing to do with our salvation. Salvation cannot be earned; it is a gift from God.
However, we will receive rewards for doing the good works that God has prepared for us to do.
Jesus said: “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to everyone according to his work.” Revelation 22:12.
Keep in mind though, that we should not be working to earn rewards, but to bring God glory, for as we do so, God sees our hearts, and rewards us richly as we purpose to do His work for no other reason than to bring Him glory.
Today’s Prayer:
Dear God,
Thank You for giving me the greatest gift I could ever receive–the gift of salvation!
I am so blessed to be Your child and to know that someday I will be living with You forever in heaven.
To me, You giving me that gift would be more than enough, but Jesus says there is more, He says You also have rewards for me!
I don’t exactly know what that means God, but I am sure it is something wonderful and I do want to receive whatever You might have for me.
Therefore, I will be active to do the good works that You have prepared for me to do, only because I want to bring You the glory that You deserve, by being active in my faith and showing forth Your light for others to see. Then, if I am rewarded for doing that, it will be such a plus!
Thank You God! I am so in awe of You! You are such an amazing, generous, loving God, and I am so blessed to be in Your service!
