Planting Spiritual Seeds—Day 24—Serve

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another
Galatians 5:13 ESV

Today’s Seed is: Serve

How do we plant spiritual seeds of service?
Peter says : “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.” 1 Peter 4:10 NLT

Spiritual gifts are something every believer is given when they receive the gift of salvation. “Christ has generously divided out his gifts to us.” Ephesians 4:7 CEV

Spiritual gifts are special abilities, talents, or capacities given to individual Christians by the Holy Spirit for the purpose of serving God and others within the Christian community. These gifts are not natural talents or skills, but supernatural endowments provided by God’s grace. They are meant to be used to build up the body of Christ, which is the community of believers.

Take some time to read Romans 12:6-8, 1 Corinthians 8-10 and 28-30, and Ephesians 4:11, and you will see a listing of the different spiritual gifts believers are given.  Service is one of the spiritual gifts listed, and we can use that gift today as we interact with fellow believers.

“We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.”
(Romans 12:6-8, emphasis added)
