Planting Spiritual Seeds—Day 29–Water

Today’s Seed is: Water

Today we will not be planting seeds we will be watering seeds that have been previously planted, either by us or by someone else.

All things need water to grow so today we will be checking on seeds that we have planted to see if they need watering.

How do we water spiritual seeds?  We speak God’s word over them.  In Isaiah 55:1 God is speaking to the people of Israel and He is saying ““Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters…”  He is saying He is the water; He will refresh them and cause them to grow spiritually.  He continues speaking in the following verses and compares His word to rain and snow that come down from heaven to water the earth.

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,11 so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”
Isaiah 55:10-11 ESV

Your tongue has the power to bring life or death, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue,“ Proverbs 18:21, so speak God’s words of life over the seed you’ve sown. We can do this by praying God’s word over them aloud or silently. “For soil that drinks the rain which often falls on it and produces crops useful to those for whose benefit it is cultivated, receives a blessing from God;” Hebrews 6:7 AMP

Examples of Praying God’s Word:  you could pray these scriptures over someone as water to increase growth.

  • Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Glory belongs to him both now and forever. Amen. 2 Peter 3:18 NIRV
  • And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him.
    Colossians 2:6-7 NLT
  • as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow 1 Peter 2:2 NKJV
