August 2–Psalms Prayer Pocket–Day 2

Posted on August 2, 2025August 1, 2025 by SGLY Devotionals

A Psalms Prayer Pocket for when you are: ANGRY
Be angry, and do not sin.
Meditate within your heart on your bed and be still.
Selah. (Selah means stop and think about that.)
Psalm 4:4 (NKJV)

Cease from anger and forsake wrath; Do not fret–it only causes harm. Psalm 37:8(NKJV)

These verses are telling us to not let our anger get out of control.  Psalm 4:4 tells us to stop, take a breath, go to a quiet place and be still so we can think deeply about why we are angry.
This will help us get our anger under control.  Psalm 37:8 tells us that fretting, which is constantly worrying or being anxious about something can cause us to become angry or worse, so we should stop fretting for it can cause us harm.  Doing what these verses say by going to a quiet place or taking a walk, helps diffuse our anger, and bringing our anger to the Lord in the form of prayer will help us greatly to keep our anger from getting out of control and causing us or others harm.

Pocket Prayer:
Dear Lord, today I am angry because_____________________(tell the Lord why you are angry).

Lord, I do not want to sin by letting my anger get out of control.
So right now, in my anger, I will stop and think about it.
I will go to a quiet place, or take a walk, meditate, and be still.
This action of sitting alone, thinking and being still
will eventually cause my anger to cease and help me to overcome it.
Then, I need to completely let it go, give it to You, Lord, and not worry about it,
because I do not want to cause any harm to myself or others.

I want to be like You, Dear Lord, for You are: Slow to anger and great in mercy. Psalm 145:8(NKJV)

Thank You Lord, Amen.
