Showers of Blessings  Day 11
Blessing:  Friendship with God

The secret of the LORD is with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant.  Psalm 25:14 KJV

Message:
As a young child I was quiet and shy.  I didn’t have very many friends, but I did have one best friend. Her name was Barbara and she was a lot like me.  Neither of us was outgoing, she because of her poor health, and I because of my shyness, but together we made a great team.  We spent lots of our free time at each other’s homes, playing, sharing secrets and dreams.  For many years we were Best Friends and then, as we grew up and life took us our separate ways, we didn’t keep in touch that often, but when we did we would always remember and reminisce about those times we spent as best friends in our childhood days.  Having friends is great, but being blessed to have a Best Friend is wonderful.

My mom always told me that “You might have lots of friends and acquaintances in your life, but if you have just one really good friend then you are blessed.”
Believers, the Lord is our Best Friend.  He is the Best, Best Friend we will ever have!

Today’s verse is saying that those who fear the LORD are blessed with the LORD’s close friendship, that He is our best friend, because it is saying that He shares His secrets with those who fear Him.  He shows them the things He has pledged to do for us who fear Him. That seems to be something a best friend would do.  The word “secret” in this verse means counsel, or intimate conversation.  It would be something that was shared with a close friend or in a circle of close friends.  Actually, it would be like a secret that you are telling your best friend.  How wonderful is that!

So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.  Romans 5:11 NLT
