Showers of Blessings Day 16
Blessing:  The Lord’s Watchful Attention
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy; Psalm 33:18 KJV

Message:
“The Lord sure must have been watching out for you today!” the tow truck driver said as he viewed my car in the snowy ditch.  “Yes, He surely was!” I replied.

My daughter, age 15, had been practicing driving for her upcoming driver’s test and even though it had snowed overnight, and I told her the roads were too icy for her to practice today, she kept begging me, saying “I need to learn how to drive in bad weather, so I should practice on ice and snow.”  Well, it was a good point, and even though I was hesitant, she wore me down with her constant begging, so I said yes, telling her we would need to stay close to home because of the weather.

She was doing fine, going slow and managing well on the side streets but when we came to the larger highway, she was going a little too fast for conditions, and I told her to slow down as the road was icy. Instead of letting off the gas to slow down easily, she hit the brakes a bit too hard and went into a spin, lost control, and we crossed into the oncoming lane and went down into a ditch headfirst.

Thankfully, no cars were coming towards us in the oncoming lane, nor were any behind us, and thankfully there was enough snow to stop us from tipping over in the ditch.  We were both stunned and scared but unhurt, and the damage to the car was minimal.  Thanks be to the Lord for watching out for us as it could have been so much worse!

Believers, when we fear the Lord and walk with Him daily, He is ever present with us, His eye is always upon us to help us.  Isn’t it good to know what we are never alone in this world?  Day or night, icy roads, rough roads, or smooth dry roads, we have our Lord watching over us to protect us, help us and bless us.  That is such a comfort, isn’t it?   Let’s give thanks and tell Him right now that we are so grateful for His mercy and that He is with us always.

The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Lamentations 3:22 NLT
