Showers of Blessings  Day 17
Blessing:  God’s Compassion
As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compassion to those who fear him. Psalm 103:13 ESV

Message:
When I and my brother were young, we thought we were doing a good deed for our dad.
We were washing the dishes after lunch and my brother noticed dad’s pipe sitting on the table, “Hey!” my brother said, “Let’s surprise dad and clean up his pipe!”
“Great idea!” I exclaimed.  So, after my brother emptied the tobacco out of the pipe, into the dish water the pipe went.  We scrubbed it clean, and then we found out that with the dish water the pipe would blow great bubbles! What fun we were having blowing bubbles with the pipe until dad walked into the room!

Our little good deed ended up being not such a good idea after all, but dad didn’t punish us, he had compassion on us because he knew we were only trying to do something nice for him that ended up getting out of control.  He did explain to us why we shouldn’t have done what we did, and we learned a valuable lesson.

My brother and I were fortunate to have a loving, compassionate father here on earth.  Some people don’t have that, either they have no earthly father who is near to them, or they have one who is not very compassionate.  But never forget we all have a compassionate, loving Father in heaven who loves us. He has empathy for us and wants to bless us.  He is good, kind and faithful.  We can count on Him to protect us and help us.  We who fear the Lord are the most blessed of people!  Let’s give thanks and praise for that we have a compassionate, loving Lord!
