Showers of Blessings Day 27
Blessing: Protection
You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield. Psalm 115:11 NKJV
Message:
It was late at night, and I was driving home from shopping. My daughter and I had had gone shopping after I picked her up from school and then we went to dinner. I was tired and in a hurry to get home, so I took the Toll Road. I usually didn’t drive this way as I didn’t like to spend the extra money on tolls, but tonight, I just wanted to have a quicker route home.
As I came up to the exit I needed to take, I didn’t notice the sign that said, “Exit Closed”. I guess I was distracted by talking with my daughter or from just being tired, but by the time I noticed the sign I was already heading up the exit ramp. That’s when I saw the reason for the sign. There was a gaping hole in the pavement that I was sure was going to swallow my car, yet I couldn’t stop in time to avoid it.
I cried out to God and suddenly I was past the hole and pulling slowly up to the stop sign where I needed to turn right to go home! I looked back and the hole was there, but somehow my car had seemingly floated over it. No humps, no bumps, no damage to us or the car. God shielded us. He must have provided one or two of His angels to carry us over that hole. It was amazing! God definitely was with us! He was our help and our shield.
For those who fear the LORD, protection is another blessing we receive. For us who fear Him and trust in Him, He is our help and our shield. He is our defense against the enemy and the unknown perils in this world.
Let’s thank Him for being our ever-present help in time of need. (Psalm 46:1)
