Showers of Blessings Day 5
Blessing: Avoid Troubles
Blessed is the one who fears the LORD always, but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity. Proverbs 28:14
Message:
I remember a time years ago when my grandsons were young. We were living on a farm with corn fields surrounding us. My grandsons had been told to never go into the corn because it was dangerous, they could get lost, meet up with an unfriendly animal, or worse a combine. The youngest grandson was always diligent to listen and obey, however, the older one often thought he was a superhero who could do anything, and many times he would find himself in trouble. On this particular day that is exactly what happened. My younger grandson came running to tell me that the older one had gone into the corn field even though he’d been told repeatedly not to. The younger one kept saying “I told him not to, but he wouldn’t listen,” Thankfully, my son-in-law was able to call to him, find him, and get him out of harm’s way before anything serious happened to him in that corn field, and I am sure he learned a lesson in obedience that day.
As we have seen in Day 1 of this Devotional, those who fear the Lord are able to avoid evil, and today we see that they also avoid trouble, which would stand to reason if they were able to avoid evil they would also avoid trouble. Just as my grandson learned it is better to obey and be safe, than to harden our hearts and to risk falling into trouble, so we can see it is better for us to fear the Lord always and avoid evil and trouble in our daily lives.
In this daily devotional we are beginning to learn all the blessings we receive as we fear the Lord and walk in His ways. We are blessed with the Ability to Avoid Evil, Abundant Goodness, Advancement, Angelic Protection, and we are blessed to Avoid Troubles. It is really amazing!
Let’s give thanks that we know the Lord and fear Him and let us keep in mind not to harden our hearts, but to always look to the Lord for wisdom in how to live our lives daily, for in so doing we will walk in His will, not ours, and we will avoid evil and troubles. But if we do happen to slip and fall into trouble, the Lord in His mercy will help us, for When the righteous cry for help, the LORD hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. Psalm 34:17, however, it’s better to avoid trouble altogether!
Let’s share what we are learning with others so that they may receive these blessings also!
