Blessing: Blessed in Obedience
Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who delights greatly in His commandments. Psalm 112:1
Message:
Shortly after I accepted Christ and began living the Christian life, some of my un-saved family wanted to buy a Ouija Board for my daughter for her birthday. I said absolutely not because God’s word said we are not to dabble in the occult. They mocked me, saying it was just a game and would cause no harm, but I stood firm in what I believed and said “No, I will not have such a thing in my home nor let my daughter play with it, as it is against God’s word. God has commanded us to stay away from that sort of thing to protect us from evil.”
I delighted greatly to obey the Lord, not because I felt it was my duty to do so, but because I loved Him and wanted to do what He said, knowing it was for my, and my daughter’s best interest, and I believe we were blessed because of my obedience, as my family was witnessed to by me standing firm in my beliefs, and my daughter was protected from evil influences.
Delighting greatly to do the Lord’s commandments, is more than just obeying a law or rule out of duty, it is doing so because we love Him and want to please Him.
When we fear the Lord, we respect His words and want to honor and obey Him. We delight in doing His will. We know that we can trust Him and that He would not tell us to do anything that is not for our good. So, when we listen to Him, and obey Him, we are blessed because we are doing what is best for our lives.
Read all of Psalm 112 and you will see many blessings that those who fear the Lord and delight greatly in His commandments receive.
